Analysis Of 3 Film Openings:




The first film opening I will be analysing is 'Zombie Land' Straight away there is non-diagetic music playing and a shot of the american flag with the main actor (Jesse Eisenberg) narrating over the top. The non-diagetic music continues as the camera shot moves to looking around at cars exploding and the white house on fire, this shot sets the scene for the whole film which is a apocalypse. the scene continues to point of view style scene, where a zombie jumps over a car and chases and eats the man with the camera. as the man with the camera is being eaten Jesse Eisenberg narrates over again. the shot changes a computer generated image of the earth revolving on fire to show further show the scale of the apocalypse.




The Second film opening I will be analysing is 'Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of The Black Pearl' non-diagetic music plays through title screen and continues into the opening scene, the opening scene shows a ship coming through the fog. As the ship gets closer a young girl starts to sing and the camera slowly zooms in to her. The camera then changes to a point of view shot of one of the sailors and he reaches and grabs the young girls shoulder. The use of fog and the music adds tension to the scene. The sailor then stars speaking to the young girl and the camera changes between the young girl and sailors face.




The Third Film Opening I will be analysing is 'Drive Angry' there is non-diagetic music playing quietly under the narrators voice, the scene shows hell as a giant prison and then swaps to gates and a car smashes through them and escapes from hell, the voice is still narrating over the top and scene goes black and narrator finishes speaking. The next scene is a car driving down a road fast with new non-diagetic music kicking in and the car spins round on a corner, the music used fits the scene well as it is up beat and follows well with the scene. The car continues to race through the roads and then the shot changes to a side shot of all 3 men in the car who are having a small conversation, Nicolas Cage comes into the scene driving down a side road. The drivers of the other car are looking around for him when he skids around the corner with a shotgun and shoots the car, the non-diagetic music is still playing and when he skids round the camera shot is a close up nick cage and his shotgun in slow motion skidding around the corner and shooting, there is special effect used when nick cage pulls the trigger a massive ball of fire and the shotgun shell have been added in.
