Analysis Of 3 Film Openings: (150 words)

The first film i will be analyzing is 'scream 4', straight away there is a non diagetic sound of the phone ringing and there is also music that is played over the ringing sound to create tension. There is also a loud bang as it goes into the first scene this is used to attract the audience and to make it have an impact. It starts of with the title 'The Beginning' that is in dark and misty writing, that fades into a shot of a phone and slowly fades into a shot of a school, there is non diagetic horror sounds and voices playing through out. The Mese En Scene that are used are costumes for the scream character, props are also used. There is a news report that states that murders in the area have occurred in the area, There is also a close up of 'Cindy's' face as she realizes that one of her family members was murdered, the close up was used to show Cindy's facial expressions and her emotion.


The second film i will be analyzing is 'Armageddon', Straight away there non diagetic music being used, of slow orchestra while there is a shot of earth, as this scene moves on there is a narrator talking and also aster-naught type voices, that then leeds on to a shot inside of a HQ where people are trying to land a rocket, through out this scene there is fast music being played to create tension as the people patiently wait  to hear news from the Aster - naughts. The diagetic music becomes more calm as they find out that the aster - naughts are save and unharmed, which then contrasts with more fast and tension like music, when they find out that there is something wrong with the rocket, numerous amounts of face pace editing is used to create suspense and to make the viewer wonder is going to happen next.


The third film i will be analyzing is 'The Wrong Turn 1',Straight away there is a tracking shot being used, to show scenery and the location, that is then closed off at a shot of two people rock climbing, there is slow horrific diagetic music used through out this. There is a high shot looking down on the people as they near the top on the mountain, also there is a low shot used when the male has reached the top of the mountain, There is Shot reverse shot used when the two people are talking to each other and there is also a close up of the female as she tries to get up. There is a loud bang as the women looses balance, The male goes to check out what is going on, the shot is fixed on the female as she waits for the male to come back.
